See you soon

I’m off to Croatia for a little while. What’s the cow to do with anything? Nothing really, but it’s one of my favourite photos I’ve taken this year. While I’m away you might like to write a piece of music or a poem about a Flutewise pet.

I quite like cows. When we did the auditions for the Galway Christmas concerts last year, I used one of my favourite, silly poems about a cow together with the Hungarian round for people to put together and make a performance. The results were stunning. I wish there had been a video camera there.
The poem was:
I’ve never seen a purple cow
I never hope to see one
But I can tell you anyhow
I’d rather see than be one.
I was given a purple cow with that poem on a tag around its neck for my birthday when I was 12 by my friend, Lynne. Lynne also played the flute and she had stunning red hair and a big sister called Lexie who played the clarinet and a little sister called Barbara who didn’t play anything I think. I digress.
So, while I’m away, enter a competition and write a piece about a Flutewise pet – and talk amongst yourselves again. Nicely. You are very good at that.

    Helloo!
I’m just back from the European Harp Symposium with my harp mad sister!!
There were literally hundreds of harps but there was a serious shortage of flutes!!! In fact we saw no flutes at all! Just makes me realise though, how easy it is to transport a flute…a tiny gig bag and no volvo required!!

    Hello, Jack again!
Has everyone gone on hols? Probably!!
I’ve had another trip to the harp Symposium cos my sister needed another fix!! It was well worth it though because we saw a flute and harp duo with an amazing flautist. Her name was Nicky Phillips and her sound was brilliant. If anyone gets the chance to see her play I think it would be worth it.
Anyway, my case is packed and I’m off tpo France now with my County Orchestra, I’ve got a hideous pic solo in dance macabre, poor French people will have to hold their ears!!!…. bon voyage!!

Whilst Liz is away – sunning it up with Sandy (easy life, eh?) – she has left me back in not-so-sunny-Brighton doing all the work.

So today, this evening and tonight I have been working on a colossal update to the website. You can’t see it yet but I promise that you’ll love it. I thought I’d ask if there is anything in particular you would like to see on the website? Any features? Interactive things? How about my very own blog? (maybe not). It’s no secret that we’ve been planning a forum for years (it is almost ready I promise) and I hope we can count on you to make it busy.

I did notice someone created a Facebook group for Flutewise. If you have an account on Facebook I think you should join it.

Liz is back soon and I’m elsewhere for a few days so don’t be surprised if comments don’t get posted after tomorrow lunch.

I hope you’re enjoying your summer.

    hey everyone!!!!!!

What are you all up to this summer?

I’ve been at a dance summer school this week and we’re doing a performance on Friday. We had to perform at a fete as well today. I’ve got my flute lesson tonight too.

I hope the website’s cool Andy! You could put some photos on of Flutewise events (past nad present) too. Can’t wait to see it!

So let us know what you’re all up to……

    Love Lucy

Am I the only person who’s been away already? I hope everyone enjoys their holidays anyhow.

I somehow have got the job to play piccolo in the penultimate county wind band. I’m quite pleased really, as I didn’t think they were that taken with my audition, but that might just have been me. I just hope I don’t end up with horrible piccolo solos like Jack’s got (Good luck Jack – I’m sure you’ll make a good job of it!).

On the bus on a Saturday (going to bands and orchstras – I’ve noticed how much easier it is for me to transport my flute, that my friend her cello – at least it’s on wheels. A harp must be a nightmare. Mind you a tubas not easy but the boy who plays that just dumps it in the luggage rack. Not very good for the tuba.
