Magazine Finished!

Thank goodness. Robin phoned me early this morning (well early for me because I’m really feeling under the weather with a flu-type bug) and he told me he’ll be collecting it from the finishers today and it will be packed tomorrow and posted by Friday, hopefully.

The photo above is a bit random – the snow we had earlier this week.
Our plans for Slovenia are all starting to come together, with the hotel being confirmed, all flights booked, coach booked and now I’ve got to order the T shirts. It’s really exciting.
I’ve got quite a bit to get on with before then. I need to explore funding and sponsorship to see if there is any way I can find some financial support to make this Barbican event happen. On first looking at the figures I really don’t think I can risk doing it without some input. Anyone got any brilliant ideas?

Hollyoaks in Slovenia!?! I doubt it, they are much too sophisticated, they prefer Neighbours and Coronation Street – and Dr Who of course!

Oooh good. A Flutewise magazine is just what I need. I’ve had a bit of a rough couple of days for flute playing. Yesterday was my first lesson with my new teacher, and it was one of the worst flute lessons ever. I came out wondering why on Earth I bother with flute playing. But I won’t go into details here.

I hope you all have a great time in Slovenia – it all seems very exciting.

As for the event at the Barbican, would any of the flute manufacturing firms want to support it? Or could Youth Music help – I know they support Project:Flutewise.

    Hi,
I was just listening to Stephen’s ‘Theme from the mission’ on youtube and I was rather inspired…soooo…I was just wondering where I can get hold of the music, or can you only get it for oboe? If you could let me know, then that would be great! Thanks,
    love Lucy x x x

Hi Lucy. I think i just use the oboe and piano version (because the oboe is in C too!!!) and then just changed the oboe part about a bit (i think i put the 2nd half up the octave). You can get it online probably at sheetmusic.com (i think thats what it is??) or probably in loads of music shops too. If you cant find it let me know and i will search for my copy and give you more info. Played it as an encore this eve actually so what a coincidence that you mentioned it now!!! Hope you like it.

    Love,
    Stephen.

P.S. when you are looking for it, its often called “Gabriels Oboe” and not always “Theme From The Mission” Hope that helps!!!
