The photo is of the inside of Portslade Town Hall at a recent Flutewise event with Philippe Barnes and Tom Phelan. It’s a beautiful hall with really good acoustics. There’s also free parking and the Holmbush Centre is not far away (a huge M&S and Tesco – great for mum to go shopping or have a cup of coffee). We’ve got another event there this Saturday afternoon with Stephen Clark.
Everyone raelly enjoys working with Stephen and I know we’ll have fun on Saturday. The event is from 2.00 – 3.30 pm and is open to all flute players aged 8 to 19 and their teachers. But you have to pre-book, although that is easy, an email or phone call will do. If you want to come you can email from the website or phone 01273 702367.
If you are coming you need to bring your flute, a music stand (labelled with your name) and a drink if you might need one. We’ll be exploring some strange sounds on your flute (they are called extended techniques, they sound complicated but Stephen makes them very easy to learn) and we’ll play some straightforward ensemble music and Stephen will play for us. I hope you can make it.
