Hi Cathy,
Sorry not to have replied before, I think you've probably been for your audition so telling you to prctice the 3 octave Cs, including chromatic, is probably a bit lame now! There were also a couple of the nastier melodics but I can't remember which ones! The good news is that you can only get 6 marks for scales anyway so lets not sweat!! I played the 1st movement of the poulenc and 2 movements of a Bach. Didn't know what to do on the pic so I played a couple of fast movements from the Telemann Fantasies!!
I don't expect to get in either, I think I'm too young. There was a very stressed violinist leaving as I arrived and a seriously annoyed trombonist! The people who auditioned me were really friendly so I'm not sure what the problem was!!

Hope it went Ok for you,
Jack.

Ooo! I'm auditioning for NYOW too! My auditions on Sunday... but I'm not too nervous because I don't expect to get in... its just for the experience. What scales did they ask you Jack? I'm a bit...well... rubbish on my scales because I only entered for the audition 2 weeks ago, and hadn't been learning the grade 8 scales before then because I'd been concentrating on the exercises in one of Moyse's books. So I'm a BIT panicky about those!!

What did you play in the audition Jack?

Has anyone else auditioned for any orchestras recently? How did they go?

Cathy

Just completed the survey. It was really interesting. It would be good to read the results some time in the future.
I had an audition yesterday for the NYOW. The flute playing went really well but the horrible piccolo was sliding all over the place on my sweaty lip!! (Not that I'm always sweaty, it was just very hot and a bit stressful)!!
Good to get it over with though.
Hope everyone's Ok,
Jack
