Brentwood workshop
I’m just back from a lovely Saturday event with Stephen, Carolyn Wheadon and some of my favourite young flute players in Brentwood. What a good bunch they are. There was lots of concentration and hard work. We worked on Zig Zag Zoo and it’s really coming along nicely. Stephen was superb, as usual.
After the workshop we had an absolutely fabulous lunch with Carolyn.
Now I’ve got to get ready for two more events tomorrow.
That cat of mine is being a real pain – she has now decided she likes tea and coffee – paw goes into cup and then she licks it – very sweet to watch but quite gross really, I hope I haven’t had a drink after her!
… from me, because, amongst other things, the Flutewise Live! website is working! Have you visited it yet? You should – and then let me know what you think.
We’ve worked flat out since November. All we need now is to receive loads and loads of bookings for Flutewise Live! So PLEASE tell everyone you know. If you look at the website you’ll see what an incredible event it is going to be. But it won’t be incredible if no one is there!
It’s wonderful how many professional players are willing to give up their time on a Sunday, for no financial reward, to support Flutewise and young flute players. I hope we can repay them by hordes of flute players turning up. Please help!

Doppy - isn't she adorable?
I’ve got a cat. Her redeeming feature is she is beautiful, very beautiful. But she is a total nightmare a lot of the time. Her name is Doppy, which is short for Doppler. He was a flute player/composer. We’ve had lots of cats named after flute players – Taffie, Gaubie (Taffanel and Gaubert) and Buffy, short for Buffardin.
Back to Doppy. I can’t quite understand how one little cat can make more mess in the house than everyone else who lives here. This morning I cleaned all of the floors and then went out shopping. When I got back the floor was covered in brown muddy paw prints everywhere and it wasn’t even raining. A few days ago, before I went away last time, before I went to bed I got all of my things together for my trip in a bedroom at the back of the house so when I got up very early next morning I wouldn’t disturb my husband. There’s a chest in this room, about 4 foot high. I put two clean white blouses on to of it. When I went in the next morning they were COVERED in brown muddy paw prints! What I want to know is how can she get from the back garden, through the house, all the way up the stairs, across a landing, into a bedroom and still have very dirty paws?! Does she fly up?
I thought you might like to share this. It’s worth watching and listening all the way through. Lots to observe. It’s from 1976. Great stuff.
