I think this is a really good idea. Alison is representing South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Association at the Lions Club of Windsor’s sponsored ride on her horse, Bonnie. They will be riding around Windsor Great Park to raise money for  the RDA and other charities.

It’s really easy to sponsor her – I’ve managed it you need to go to http://www.justgiving.com/alisonand bonnie
You really should support her – just think of all of those cakes she has made us!

Hurrah!

I’m celebrating! At long last the magazine has ‘gone to bed’ – that means it is off to the printers. This has been a really hard one because of our computer problems. We just had to get on with the magazine rather than stop and sort out all of our problems. Now it is finished, I hope we can get everything else sorted out ………. I am a born optimist, aren’t I?

My next big job is revising my Fife Book as it is going to be relaunched later this year.
Then I’ve got to arrange a very, very important meeting which, if I’m successful, will have a huge impact on the flute world. I’ll tell you all about it as soon as I can.
I’ll let you know the progress of the magazine and when you should expect it. It’s a rather good one, I think.

…. who play the flute! Read the comments box below and let me know what you think. Thanks to Thomas, his mum and my husband for telling me about this.

What’s in a name?

I had an invoice this morning addressed to ‘Liz Woodwind’!

It reminded me of a little boy I used to teach years ago. He was called Daniel and he always insisted on calling me ‘Mrs. Goodwind’ – I like that!
Any ideas on what I should be called? Or what would you like to be called?

Another Course – Beating Pasha

I’m just back from another weekend at Ovingdean. It was, as usual, a very special one. On Saturday Pasha Pavel came and showed us all how to start beatboxing on the flute. We had varying degrees of success, but lots and lots of fun. We finished the afternoon session with ‘Walk Like This’ by Ian Clarke and then Pasha played us ‘The Great Train Race’ which was also composed by Ian. Awesome!

Then the flute choir arrived for on of the rehearsals before we go to Slovenia in May. Sandy and I were stunned with the quality of work we got out of everyone. We’ve now decided on our programme so it’s now down to loads of individual practice before the next rehearsal. I think everyone knows we are going to have an absolutely great time at the Slovenian convention.

A big thank you to all our great Flutewise players and to Sandy and James Cairns for everything they do – and a special mention to Marta who is from Croatia, but is currently studying with Trevor Wye, it was great to have her with us this weekend.

And I mustn’t forget to say thank you to Robbie for my lovely, freshly laid eggs.
