I’ve just received this from Beth Williamson (Alice and Charlotte’s mum) and thought it would be of interest:

Busy Days

I feel like I’ve been tied to my computer for days, finishing off the magazine. I think it’s nearly there, I was a bit delayed with finishing my part due to the course and having Erich to stay. Before that we were in Croatia for the course, so it really has been a busy summer.
I’ve had lost of good comments over the last few days about our Ovingdean course and I’m planning to post them very soon. My biggest delight is how well the scale challenges were received – so many people enjoyed them and have learnt new scales or improved on the ones they already knew. What great news that is.
Google wouldn’t let me put a photo with this post, I don’t know why, some sort of error – maybe the photo was just too good. There are loads of good ones in this current magazine, but it will be a little while before you receive that. I’ll let you know how it progresses.
More soon. Keep your comments coming.
Ovingdean Course was…

… brilliant! In my humble opinion, I think everyone had a great time. Over the next few days I hope to tell you all about it with the help of contributions from people who were on the course – (so hurry up and get emailing me your comments everyone).
We were so very lucky to have incredibly good weather and we were able to play outside a great deal.
The staff – well, they were something else – more about them later. In the meantime, a huge thank you to everyone who took part and to all the staff – Sandy Hay, Louise Matthew, Carolyn Wheadon, Stephen Clark, Karen Bertolacinni, our pianist, Dave Glasson and our special guest, Erich Tucker. I understand there is to be an ‘Erich Tucker’ fan club starting up.
Sight Seeing

Erich and I went to London yesterday to do a bit of sight seeing. As flute players, we just had to go to the flute shops – All Flutes Plus in Warren Street and Top Wind in Lower Marsh, Waterloo (tomorrow it is Just Flutes in Croydon).
What a lovely surprise we had at All Flutes Plus, we met Rachel trying out new flutes!
Erich and I saw all the usual places – Big Ben, Westminster, Buckingham Palace, etc, but I think Erich enjoyed the evening treat the most, we went to the theatre to see Wicked. It was, well, wicked!
Erich is here!

Erich arrived yesterday morning from Texas to come and teach on our course this week. We’ve been out having fun. It’s the first time he’s been to the UK, so there is plenty for him to see.
Yesterday we went to the sea and took photos of him with beach huts (he hadn’t seen those before). Then we went to Ovingdean and saw the school, looked round the church and had a chat with my friend Robert. A pretty village called Alfriston was our next stop for afternoon tea – so very British.
Today we’ve been to the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, through the Lanes and onto the pier. Erich is resting now and I’m about to go food shopping for lots of party food as it is our wedding anniversary today and we need to celebrate. I think Erich might do some more practice when I’m out, he did some before breakfast.
