What I did on my holiday.

Do class teachers still ask you to write on the topic, ‘What I did on my holiday’? They did when I was at school and I. like everyone else, hated it. To be honest, I used to set the task for my pupils when I taught in the classroom – and they hated it!

I had a lovely, peaceful holiday in the Dordogne, France. The weather was beautiful, there were millions of butterflies and we did lots of walking, reading and not much else. Possibly quite a boring holiday for some people, but it was just what we needed.

Something interesting did happen though.

One night we went to the very pretty town of Sarlat. It has more listed buildings per square metre than anywhere else apparently. We had a very good meal and then went for a little walk and came across a fire!. It was on the ground floor of the building of the photo and extended right to the roof. The ground floor consisted of shops, but the rest was derelict. We spent quite some time watching the excellent fire crew working. They were very good and I particularly liked their helmets, all silver, reminded me of something from Star Wars or Dr Who.

It was very interesting and no one was hurt which was excellent news.

Now I’m back I’m off to do a bit of flute practice.

I’m back!

Yes, I’m back from a very restful holiday. Actually I’ve been back a few days but I’ve had rather a lot to catch up with – washing, cleaning, Flutewise admin and my legal stuff. I’m just about back on top of things now.

I am extremely impressed with all of the people who left comments on the last post. It is really encouraging – please keep it up. As promised, I’m awarding a prize – well no, I’m going to award 3 people a prize for the most contributions. Prizes go to Jack, Rachel and Stephen. Well done folks, keep it up.

Maybe I should award a weekly prize. Let me know what you think.

To keep you busy… Competition

I know lots of you come and visit here every day. So to keep everyone interested I thought we could have a little competition while I’m on holiday. There will be two prizes – one for the very best comment left and one for the person who leaves the most comments.

I’d like you to write comments about anything to do with Flutewise and playing the flute. If you are reading this you must have something to say, so say it! You don’t have to leave your real name, but do use some sort of name so we can identify you when I get back. The prizes will be CDs and music.

Have fun and entertain each other!

Please note: Whilst Liz is away, there will be a delay before your comments are posted. I’ll try and get them up as soon as I can. Andy.

Early holiday

I’m off on holiday today. We were meant to be going later this month but we realised our holiday clashed with the Glastonbury Festival which Andy always goes to and there was no one else around to look after our cat. We’ve only got one cat living at home at the moment, our Doppy. Buffy has gone to live with my son Mark as both cats have been worried by a fox who has started visiting our garden. Doppy is really missing her friend and needs loads of human attention, so we couldn’t just leave her with people just popping in to feed her a couple of times a day.

So after a frantic search, we are off to France. All is well with Flutewise, the magazine is being printed by Robin, he’s just been to see me on his way to work this morning and he will finish the colour section today and then he’ll do the black and white section. Then it will be off to the finishers. I’ve done all the address sheets so he can post it as soon as it is finished.

I’m looking forward to a good rest.

Got Yours?

Funky Flute – has yours arrived? That’s what was in all of those boxes, copies for all our UK members. They were a free gift, together with a catalogue, from the really nice people at Kevin Mayhew Publishers. Kevin Mayhew produce really high quality books and this one is no exception. I’d really like to know what you think of it – and I’m sure the publisher would to.

I’m just really pleased I managed to pack them all and get them posted. It seemed to take me forever.
